The District 12AAA Boys Basketball Tournament bracket is set, and Franklin County will open postseason play with a familiar opponent.
The Rebels earned the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Lawrence County on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6:00 p.m. The winner will advance to face No. 1 seed Tullahoma in the semifinals on Friday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in Tullahoma.
On the opposite side of the bracket, No. 2 Giles County will take on No. 3 Marshall County Friday night at 8:30 p.m., with the championship game scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game for third place will tip at 6:00 p.m. that same evening.
Franklin County and Lawrence County split their two regular-season meetings this year, setting the stage for what should be a competitive rubber match. The Rebels fell in the first meeting but responded in dramatic fashion the second time around, erasing a 20-point deficit to secure a hard-fought comeback victory.
That resilience could prove critical in tournament play.
Franklin County enters the postseason battle-tested, having navigated roster adjustments and depth challenges throughout district play. The Rebels have leaned heavily on the offensive production of Brandon Walker down the stretch. But it’s been their defense that has created opportunities in the fourth quarter.
Lawrence County presents a disciplined and physical matchup, and with both teams knowing each other well, the margin for error will be slim.
With a trip to the semifinals on the line and a third meeting between evenly matched opponents, Tuesday night promises high stakes and high intensity as the Rebels look to extend their season.
