Martha Jean Walker

July 17, 1936  –  January 24, 2026

Martha Jean Walker, age 89 of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rutherford County on July 17, 1936, to the late Edgar and Ella Dana (Denton) Broyles. Before her retirement, she worked as an antique dealer. A yard sale goddess, she had the eye and the ability to purchase items low at yard sales and sell for a profit. She enjoyed collecting Boston Terrier trinkets, as well as playing the piano and watching musicals such as My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music. She also enjoyed decorating cakes, especially specialty and wedding cakes. Martha’s wonderful personality and hospitality, combined with being a great listener, made her a wonderful friend to all. She was a member of the Huntland Church of Christ and would attend when she was able. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Kevin Walker, Keith Walker, and Kirk Walker; daughter-in-law, Angie Walker; grandson, Christopher Humphreys; and brother, Edgar “Bubber” Broyles. Martha is survived by her loving and devoted husband of seventy-one years, Jimmy Walker; sons, Kim Walker (Dena Frazier) and Kerry Walker; daughter, Konnie (Tom) Humphreys; daughters-in-law, Karen Walker and Gail Walker; grandchildren, Jonathan (Samantha) Walker, Joel Walker, Kortney (Josh) Clark, Chelsea Crunk, Kelsie (Clark) Richeson, Katrina (Brett) Davis, Katie (Cade) Harper, Ella (Colby) LaFauci, Jeremiah Humphreys, Tommie Humphreys, Elizabeth Humphreys, and Isaac Humphreys; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12-1pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00pm in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home with Oren Huffman officiating. Interment will be at Watson Memorial Park.
