United and Unshaken: Rebelettes Send Message in Dominant Win Over Giles County

Friday night on the Bypass carried more weight than just another district matchup.

On Teacher Appreciation Night, the Franklin County Rebelettes walked into the gym with quiet determination — wearing shooting shirts with the number 13 stitched onto their right arms. It was a visible reminder of who they were playing for, and who they were missing.

Franklin County was set to face the only team that had beaten them in district play this season, and they were doing it without leading scorer and junior leader Gracen Baggett. Baggett fell ill earlier in the week and was rushed to the hospital the day after helping the Rebelettes secure a win over Marshall County on Monday night.

What followed was not just a response — it was a statement.

Coming off an emotional week and a road win at Lawrence County on Tuesday, Franklin County delivered its third straight district victory in emphatic fashion, dismantling Giles County 55–20. And while the win was fueled by emotion, it was anchored in something deeper: proving they are more than a pair 1,000-point scorers, more than individual accolades, and more capable as a team now than they were earlier in the season.

The last meeting between the two teams — a 71–66 loss on January 20 in Giles County — left the Rebelettes frustrated, feeling the game slipped away amid foul trouble and physical play. Friday night, they left no room for doubt.

Franklin County exploded out of the gate with a 12–0 run, setting the tone immediately. Na’Kayjah Holman scored eight early points, while Kenzie Arnold added seven in the opening quarter. The Rebelettes led 17–4 after one and clamped down defensively, allowing just five points per quarter on average for the game.

Holman poured in 12 more points in the second quarter to give her 20 by halftime, as Franklin County raced to a commanding 35–10 lead at the break. The defensive intensity never let up.

By the end of the third quarter, the Rebelettes had scored 15 points in the period alone — matching Giles County’s entire team total through three quarters. Even with a running clock looming, head coach Darrell Jolley kept his starters on the floor to begin the fourth, sensing his team still had something to prove.

Eventually, the bench was cleared, but the message had already been sent.

The scoreboard read 55–20 as fans filtered in for the boys game, and the buzz echoed throughout the gym. It was not a night where every shot fell or everything went perfectly offensively. Instead, it was a punishing, disciplined, and relentless performance — one built on defense, effort, and unity.

Holman finished with 28 points to lead all scorers. Arnold added 11, Aahna Carter scored five, Kennedy Hall and Jaelyn Ritchie each chipped in three, and Sadie Hill and Abbey Mason finished with two apiece.

Franklin County improved to 16–9 overall and 5–1 in district play, setting up another major test on the road at Tullahoma. The Wildcats enter the matchup at 4–2 in the district and 15–9 overall, as the Rebelettes continue their push toward the top of Class 3A District 12.
