Stephen Ryan Young, age 41, of Cowan, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his residence. He was born on July 9, 1984, in Winchester, Tennessee, to Stephen Wayne Young and Kim (Brown) Young.
Ryan was a member of Cowan First Baptist Church. He was employed as a federal contractor and took great pride in his work and the accomplishments he achieved throughout his career. His work included contributions connected with the Israeli Missile Defense System, and he was honored with numerous awards recognizing his dedication, skill, and excellence.
Outside of work, Stephen was a gifted guitarist who found joy in music. He deeply loved his family and dogs, enjoyed watching football, and was a devoted fan of both the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Titans. Ryan was known for his loyalty, sharp intelligence, and quick wit. Ryan’s memory will forever live on through the hearts of those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Geraldine Smith; and his grandparents, Burns Young, Jr. and Joyce Young.
Ryan is survived by his beloved son, Gavin Ryan Young; his parents, Steve and Kim Young; his sister, Stacy (Andy) Carter; his grandparents, Leonard and Charlotte Brown; his nieces, Aahna Carter, Sydney Carter, Presley Carter, and Lily Carter; his uncles, Dudley (Gay) Brown and Greg (Cindy) Young; and his cousin, Gage Young.
Visitation will be held at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Funeral service will follow in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro.
