New head football coach, Charles “Chuck” Reid, at Franklin County High School, says he is energized and optimistic as he begins leading the Rebels program.
Reid was officially introduced to the community during a press conference and meet-and-greet held at the high school on Wednesday, following his hiring on Jan. 5. Community members, parents, and supporters were invited to ask questions as Reid outlined his vision for the program.
“I’m super excited to be here. I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” Reid said, citing strong administrative support as a key factor in his decision to return to Middle Tennessee. Reid most recently coached at Plano Senior High School in Texas and has previous experience across New England, as well as at Brentwood Academy and Franklin Road Academy.
Reid emphasized a positive, player-centered coaching style built on honesty, accountability, and open communication. With spring practice approaching, he said early priorities include team bonding, attention to detail, and installing offensive and defensive schemes to give players time to learn.
He also noted early interactions with players and future Rebels at South and North Middle Schools have been encouraging, calling the group attentive and motivated. Reid stressed that success will require alignment among administrators, coaches, players, parents, boosters, and the broader community.
“When you pull all of them together, then you can really get some great things done,” he said.
Reid said he is committed to building the program with local, homegrown talent and developing leaders who represent the school well on and off the field. He added that recruiting student-athletes for college opportunities is one of the most rewarding aspects of his job.
“I’m optimistic about the group of kids that we have,” Reid said. “They care, they work, and they want to do things the right way.”
