Rebelettes Take Control of District 12 as Key Matchups Loom

The Franklin County Rebelettes find themselves in the driver’s seat of Class 3A District 12 as the regular season enters a critical stretch.

Following Giles County’s 46–38 win over Tullahoma on Monday, Franklin County now sits alone atop the district standings at 3–1, with an overall record of 14–9. The Rebelettes currently hold the edge over Lawrence County, Tullahoma, Giles County, and Marshall County, as the next eight days of district play loom large in shaping the final standings.

Franklin County returns to action tonight on the road against Lawrence County, the team currently sitting in second place in the district. The Rebelettes opened district play against Lawrence County on January 16 with a dominant 69–41 victory at home, setting the tone early for their league campaign.

Tonight’s matchup marks the second leg of a demanding nine-day stretch that features four games and could ultimately decide the District 12 race.

Friday night looms especially large, as Franklin County hosts Giles County in a highly anticipated rematch. Giles County handed the Rebelettes their only district loss earlier this season, a 71–66 defeat on January 20 that spoiled Gracen Baggett’s entry into the 1,000-point club. The tightly contested game left many Franklin County fans frustrated, believing the officiating heavily favored the Lady Bobcats on their home floor.

The rematch presents Franklin County with an opportunity for redemption at home — and a chance to create separation atop the district standings.

The gauntlet concludes next Tuesday with another challenging road test, as the Rebelettes travel to Tullahoma. Franklin County escaped with a dramatic 38–37 win over the Wildcats on January 23 and will be looking to complete the season sweep in one of the district’s most hostile environments.

Offensively, Franklin County has set the standard in District 12, leading the league with 1,129 points scored this season. As postseason positioning begins to take shape, the Rebelettes appear to be peaking at the right time — with their toughest tests still ahead.
