Rebelettes’ Season Ends in Tullahoma; A Year Defined by More Than Basketball

For the fourth time this season, Franklin County walked off the floor in Tullahoma with a loss.

And for the seniors, it was the last time.

The Rebelettes fell to Giles County by a final of 43-32 Monday night in the Region 6AAA semifinals, ending their season in the same gym that had already proven difficult territory throughout the year. Franklin County dropped all four games played in Tullahoma this season — twice to Tullahoma, once to Lawrence County, and now to Giles County.

But this one carried finality.

Franklin County trailed 23-17 at halftime in a game that felt within reach but never quite tipped in their favor. The difference early came from Giles County’s Caydee Pipkins, who poured in 18 first-half points and applied constant pressure to a Rebel defense trying to settle in.

The Rebelettes simply could not find offensive rhythm.

Layups rolled off. Mid-range jumpers hit back iron. The perimeter never opened up — Franklin County did not connect on a single three-pointer all night. Normally, when one or two players struggle, someone else catches fire. Monday night, it felt like the lid never came off.

Na’Kayjah Holman and Kenzie Arnold led Franklin County with 11 points each. Jaelyn Ritchie added 5, Abbey Mason contributed 4, and Kennedy Hall scored 1. It was a grind from start to finish.

Despite the shooting struggles, Franklin County continued to compete in the second half, trimming the deficit and keeping the margin manageable. But every time momentum hinted at a shift, Giles County answered.

The Bobcats closed strong and secured their spot in the regional championship game against Tullahoma.

For Franklin County, the loss closes the book on a season that extended far beyond basketball.

Seniors Aahna Carter, Jaelyn Ritchie, and Na’Kayjah Holman leave the program without the trophy they envisioned when the year began. But this team endured adversity that few groups are ever asked to navigate.

They played much of the season carrying the emotional weight of their teammate and sister, Gracen Baggett. Her absence reshaped roles, altered ball-handling responsibilities, and changed the team’s identity. Through it all, the Rebelettes continued to fight.

Gracen continues to need prayers as she works through her recovery.

Some seasons are defined by banners.

Others are defined by resilience.

This one was defined by heart.
