Rebelettes Fall at Tullahoma After Emotional Purple-Out Night

Tuesday night in Tullahoma carried a tone much bigger than basketball.

Before tip-off, Tullahoma High School honored Franklin County senior Gracen Baggett with a Purple Out, a moment of silence, and kind words from students in support of one of the Rebelettes’ leaders, who remains hospitalized. It was a powerful show of sportsmanship and unity from a district rival — one that did not go unnoticed by the Franklin County bench or fans in attendance.

When the ball went up, however, the Lady Cats wasted no time seizing momentum.

Tullahoma opened the game on a torrid shooting stretch, knocking down five three-pointers in the first quarter — three of them from Aubrey North — to build a 20–4 lead after one. Whether early nerves or simply a hot start from the home team, Franklin County found itself in an immediate hole.

The Rebelettes settled in during the second quarter, tightening defensively and beginning to chip away. Franklin County outscored Tullahoma 11–6 in the period to cut the deficit to 26–15 at halftime and give themselves a chance.

But each time the Rebelettes gained traction, Tullahoma had an answer.

The Lady Wildcats extended the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Franklin County 13–8 to push the margin back to 16. The Rebelettes continued to compete, winning the fourth quarter 9–5, but the damage from the opening eight minutes proved too much to overcome.

Na’Kayjah Holman led Franklin County with 19 points, continuing to shoulder the offensive load. The rest of the team combined for 13 points, with Aahna Carter and Abbey Mason scoring five each, Kenzie Arnold adding two, and Jaelyn Ritchie finishing with one.

After the first-quarter barrage, Tullahoma cooled from long range and made just one additional three-pointer the rest of the game. Balanced scoring carried the Lady Wildcats the rest of the way, as Aubrey North finished with 12 points, Lizzy Sharpton added 11, and McLayne Bobo contributed 10.

The loss drops Franklin County to 16–10 overall and 5–2 in district play as the Rebelettes continue to navigate an emotional stretch without one of their leading scorers.

Beyond Tullahoma, support for Baggett extended across the region Tuesday night. Huntland players and cheerleaders wore ribbons in her honor, and Coffee County High School hosted its own Purple Out in Manchester during its matchup with Lincoln County. What began as a moment inside one gym quickly became a show of unity across multiple communities.

More than the final score, the night will be remembered for the purple-clad crowds and the reminder that, even in rivalry, community comes first.
