John M. Hollingsworth, age 73, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away on March 18, 2026, at Vanderbilt Harton Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 16, 1952, to the late Clyde Hollingsworth and Johnnie-Dell (Modena) Hollingsworth. John lived a life defined by dedication, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. Before his retirement, he served as the Assistant Director of Lucas County Child Services in Toledo, Ohio, where he devoted his career to protecting and advocating for children and families in need. His work was not just a profession, but a calling, one that reflected his strong sense of responsibility, structure, and compassion for others. A man of deep faith, John was a member of the Holy Covenant Original Church of God in Winchester. His faith guided his life and helped shape the values he instilled in his family: strength, accountability, and love. John was known for his strong, steady presence. He was frugal, disciplined, and at times stern, but those who knew him best understood that behind that firmness was a man who loved deeply and cared fiercely for his family. He found joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life. John loved cooking meals for his family, spending time fishing, and enjoying a round of golf. He had a deep appreciation for travel, especially his trips to Sanibel Island, Florida, and Cabo San Lucas. He was captivated by nature and found great joy in watching wildlife, particularly whales, something that brought him a sense of peace and wonder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Winfred Hollingsworth and Darrell Hughes; brother, Clyde Hollingsworth, Jr. He is survived by his devoted significant other of 40 years, Donna Hollingsworth Lewis; children, Monika Hollingsworth and John Hollingsworth; brothers, Michael Hollingsworth and Mario Hollingsworth; and his sister, Antoinette Banks and her husband George. His cherished grandchildren, Phyllis Gibson, John Hollingsworth, Jada Hollingsworth, Azaiah Johnson, Joseph Naimy, and his wife Alexa, Joshua Naimy, Gabriel Naimy, and Arlena Naimy; He also leaves behind extended family members and many who were impacted by his life and work. In accordance with his wishes, John will be cremated and returned to Toledo, Ohio, where his final place of rest will be.
