Herman Dale Nicholson, age 79 of Decherd, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Highpoint Health Medical Center. He was born in Tullahoma on November 16, 1946, to the late Wilburt and Vera Mae (Stone) Nicholson. Before his retirement, Herman worked in auto body repair for twenty years at Byrom’s Body Shop in Tullahoma before working another twenty years at Neal’s Body Shop in Decherd. In his spare time, you could find him doing woodworking projects, working puzzles, or watching old western and comedy shows. Musically inclined, he enjoyed playing the guitar and piano, as well as listening to gospel music. Herman was witty and entertained his family and friends with his sense of humor. A Christian man, he served as minister of the Jesus Saves Church of Winchester in the 1990s. He currently attended Elora Pentecostal Church, where he was assistant pastor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Pemberton; stepson, Timothy “Shot Gun” Brewer; and brothers-in-law, William Tucker and Bobby Pemberton. Herman is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Doris Nicholson; daughter, Darlene Nicholson; grandsons, Isaac Nicholson and Daniel Nicholson; sister, Wanda Tucker; brother, Paul (Vivian) Nicholson; stepson, LaFayette (Stacie) Brewer; and several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Bro. Fabron Nicholson officiating.
