Franklin County High School has released its 2026 Rebels football schedule, which includes a combination of returning non-district opponents, region play, and a heavier-than-usual road slate.
The schedule reflects the second year of a two-year scheduling cycle, meaning most non-region games were finalized prior to the 2025 season. As a result, the majority of this year’s opponents were already locked in before current head coach Chuck Reid was hired.
In addition, Franklin County entered the scheduling process later than most schools. By the time remaining open dates were being filled, many programs had already completed their schedules. That limited availability played a significant role in shaping the final slate — particularly in terms of home and away balance.
Because of those late scheduling circumstances, Franklin County will play only four home games during the 2026 regular season. Several available opponents were only able to offer road games, resulting in additional travel for the Rebels, including an out-of-state road trip during fall break.
Several opponents on the 2026 schedule will be familiar to Rebels fans. Many mirror last season’s lineup, including district contests against Columbia Central, Lincoln County, Tullahoma, and Lawrence County. Those teams finished ahead of Franklin County in last year’s district standings, with the Rebels closing district play at 0-4.
Franklin County will open the season on August 21 at Coffee County, followed by an open date on August 28. Home games for the Rebels include matchups against Chattanooga Howard (Sept. 4), PCA (Sept. 25), Tullahoma (Oct. 23), and Lincoln County (Oct. 30).
