The Franklin County Rebelettes delivered a strong bounce-back performance Monday night, defeating the Marshall County Tigerettes 43–36 at home to earn their 14th win of the season and improve to 3–1 in district play.
Franklin County set the tone early and never trailed, opening the game on an 11–0 run and building a 14–4 advantage by the end of the first quarter. The early energy carried into the second quarter , as the Rebelettes continued to control the pace and took a 24–12 lead into halftime.
Jaelyn Ritchie turned in one of her best performances of the season, knocking down a pair of timely three-pointers and was a toe on the line away from picking up her third. Ritchie finished with a team-high 11 points. It marked the first time this year she led Franklin County in scoring.
Gracen Baggett added nine points despite battling the flu and enduring a tough night at the free-throw line, where she went just 1-for-9. Na’Kayjah Holman chipped in 10 points, helping Franklin County maintain its double-digit cushion throughout much of the game.
The Rebelettes pushed the lead to 17 midway through the third quarter before Marshall County began to claw back late in the quarter. Franklin County still held a 35–22 edge heading into the fourth.
Even though Marshall County opened the final quarter with a 12–3 run to cut the deficit to four, the Rebelettes avoided a repeat of Friday nights disappointing loss at Moore County where they were doomed by a late second half comeback. Franklin County went 6 of 9 from the line in the 4th quarter and responded with defensive stops to prevent the Tigerettes from getting any closer.
Abbey Mason finished with six points before exiting the game in the fourth quarter following a hard fall that resulted in her hitting her head on the floor. Freshman Hadley Jolley and sophomore Zoe Cole gained valuable minutes in the game.
Kenzie Arnold scored four points and Aahna Carter added three to round out the scoring. Marshall County was led by Jachelle Ridley, who finished with a game-high 17 points.
The win served as a strong response for Franklin County after the frustrating loss to Moore County last Friday. The Rebelettes will look to keep the momentum going Tuesday when they travel to Lawrence County. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
