DECHERD, Tenn. — The Decherd and Decherd Parks and Recreation are inviting residents to take part in shaping the future of local parks, trails, and recreation spaces through an upcoming community input meeting for the city’s Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
The public meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m. at Decherd City Hall and is designed to be an interactive, family-friendly opportunity for residents to share ideas, priorities, and concerns related to recreation in the community. City officials say the meeting is a critical step in ensuring future park investments reflect the needs and values of Decherd residents.
Community members are encouraged to provide input on new park features or amenities they would like to see, activities and programs for children, teens, adults, and seniors, and improvements to existing parks and facilities. Residents are also invited to share broader ideas that could help make Decherd an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
The meeting will be facilitated by Kimley-Horn, a nationally recognized planning and design firm working with the city to develop the comprehensive Parks & Recreation Master Plan. The plan will serve as a long-term roadmap, guiding decisions on park upgrades, new amenities, trail development, and community gathering spaces for years to come.
City leaders stress that public participation is essential to the success of the plan. Input gathered during the meeting will help ensure that future projects are aligned with community expectations and available resources.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend, including parents and youth, seniors, local organizations, sports teams, and anyone with an interest in Decherd’s future. Officials say no prior experience or preparation is needed—just a willingness to share ideas.
“This is your parks system and your community,” organizers said. “Your voice matters.”
