Franklin County got a huge boost from Sam Vincent Thursday night, as the senior delivered in a big way at the plate to help the Rebels take down Smyrna, 8-3.
Vincent drove in five runs on four hits, including a pair of triples that broke the game open. He got things started early with an RBI single in the first, then came through again in the second with a two-run triple. He wasn’t done — in the fifth, he ripped another triple to bring home two more runs and give Franklin County plenty of breathing room.
Gavin McBee added a sacrifice fly in the second to help break a 1-1 tie, and the Rebels never looked back.
On the mound, it was a team effort. Konnor Lively started the game and went three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits. Colson Kelley took over in relief and was dominant, tossing four shutout innings with seven strikeouts and no runs allowed.
Franklin County racked up 12 hits as a team. McBee and Connor Parker both had multi-hit nights, and the defense chipped in with a double play to keep things clean.
Smyrna had 10 hits of their own but couldn’t string enough together after the second inning. Yoidel Guerra Arzuaga led the way for them, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Walker Hayes and William Drayton each had two hits, and three different players drove in runs, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with Franklin County’s bats.
With the win, the Rebels move on to host Oakland on Friday.
