Franklin County Rebelettes got off to a solid start Thursday night, but a big second inning from Sequatchie County proved too much to overcome in a 9-1 loss on the road.

The Rebelettes struck first in the top of the first inning when Alex Hand came through with a single to score the opening run and give Franklin County the early lead.

Sequatchie County answered back in the bottom of the second, putting up six runs on five hits to take control of the game. The biggest swing came from their cleanup hitter, Emma, who hit a two-run shot to left field.

Kaylee Morris started in the circle for Franklin County, going three innings and allowing seven hits and six runs, though only three were earned. She walked one and didn’t record a strikeout. Despite the loss, the defense worked hard behind her, and the Rebelettes stayed in the fight.

Amelia threw for Sequatchie County, giving up four hits and one run across five innings. She struck out seven, but Franklin County showed patience at the plate, working 10 walks as a team.

Hand led the Rebelettes offensively, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Kyleigh Decamp, Kaitlyn Montgomery, and Victoria Nelson each added a hit, and Morris helped set the tone with three walks of her own.

Sequatchie County ended the game with 12 hits and used aggressive baserunning to swipe 10 stolen bases. Defensively, they played a clean game with no errors.

The Rebelettes will look to bounce back Friday against Lawrence County Lady Cats. Hear that game on ESPN Radio Winchester with Will Davis on the call.
