Tornado, Straight-Line Winds, and Flooding Hit the Area

Intense storms pounded the area from late Friday night through Saturday evening. Heavy rainfall was felt throughout the region. Flash flooding occurred, and strong winds caused damage. 

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado near the Bedford/Rutherford County line in Christiana.

They determined that the storms produced an EF-1 tornado with a maximum wind speed of 95 mph. The tornado was 300 yards wide and lasted 4.5 miles between US 41A and US 231.

The NWS confirmed that straight-line winds were measured at 90mph in the Grundy County town of Palmer. Multiple structures suffered significant damage, and numerous trees impacted utility lines, resulting in one minor injury.

Multiple communities in Lincoln County suffered flooding. On Sunday, Don Davidson Park, Lions Club Softball Complex on the bypass in Fayetteville was under water.
