Robert Asa Garth Obituary

July 22, 1939 - January 20, 2025

ROBERT ASA GARTH, age 85, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Winchester, Tenn., a native of Passaic, New Jersey, departed this life on Monday, January 20, 2025, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.  Mr. Garth was born in Pasaic, New Jersey, on July 22, 1939, to the late Alpha Matthew Garth and Genevieve Ruth Hobson Garth.  After high school graduation Mr. Garth joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 4 years receiving an honorable discharge.  Mr. Garth was then employed at Continental Can as a purchasing agent in New Jersey and New Hampshire for approximately 20 years.  He was then employed at Hadco Company, Inc. where he retired from.  Upon his retirement he and his wife, Mrs. Ellen Garth decided to make Winchester their new home and relocated to Winchester in 2007.  Mr. Garth was of the Catholic Faith and enjoyed his years spent at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Winchester. Mr. Garth's favorite past-time was reading current events.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends as a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend to many.

Mr. Garth was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Garth in January of 2019.  He is survived by his son, Robert "Rob" Martin Garth and wife, Chandra of Franklin, Tenn., sister, Anita McGuire of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey, Grandsons; Arness Holfey of Franklin, Tenn., Robert M. Garth of Jersey City, New Jersey and granddaughter, Luchianna "Lucy" Garth of Franklin, Tenn.,

A Memorial Service will be held at Grant Funeral Services in Estill Springs. The date and time will be announced when they are scheduled sometime in the near future.

It was Mr. Garth's wishes that he be interred at Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd by his beloved Ellen.
