The Franklin County Rebelettes came up just short in a hard-fought 6-5 loss to the Marion County Lady Warriors on Monday evening. The game was decided in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth inning when Kaylee McGowan delivered a clutch RBI single to seal the win for Marion County.
Despite out-hitting the Lady Warriors 14 to 9, Franklin County was unable to capitalize late. Kaitlyn Montgomery and Addison Partin led the offense with three hits apiece, while five different Rebelettes drove in a run, showcasing the team’s depth at the plate.
The scoring started in the second inning when Mollye Casey singled home a run to give the Rebelettes an early 1-0 lead. However, a defensive miscue in the bottom half allowed Marion County to even the score.
Marion County pulled ahead in the third, scoring three runs on a pair of RBI singles by McGowan and Kylee Lancaster, along with a run scored on a wild pitch. Franklin County responded in the sixth, tying the game at five after an RBI fielder’s choice from Kaylee Morris and a game-tying double by Montgomery.
Victoria Nelson got the start in the circle for Franklin County, tossing five innings while allowing four hits and five unearned runs. She struck out four but issued six walks. Brynna Thomasson went the distance for Marion County, pitching all nine innings and giving up 14 hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out seven and walking none.

In addition to Montgomery and Partin’s standout performances, multiple Rebelettes contributed at the plate. Morris, Casey, Montgomery, Edge, and Partin each tallied an RBI, while Nelson and Courtney Wilhoit both notched multiple hits.
For Marion County, McGowan had a standout game, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Thomasson added two hits, while Erica Fulfer drew three walks to help power the Lady Warriors' offense. Marion County also turned a double play defensively and showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks overall.
The Rebelettes will look to bounce back as they travel to face the Lawrence County Lady Cats on Tuesday.
