A new bipartisan bill, introduced on February 28, addresses the issue of Tennessee families providing regular caregiving without income.

In March 2024, the Tennessee Department of Health reported that one in four adults in Tennessee cares for a friend or family member.

The coalition recently worked with lawmakers to introduce a new bill that mandates TennCare to establish guidelines allowing service providers to hire qualified family members as caregivers and prohibits TennCare from barring them. State leaders will now consider the bill.

The bill aims to address the caregiver shortage in Tennessee.
