Franklin County Rebels Fall on Final Play Against Central Magnet

Franklin County Rebels came up short against Central Magnet on Tuesday, losing 4-3 on the final play of the game. With the score tied at three in the bottom of the eighth, Josiah Cullins got Henry Long to hit into a fielder's choice, but the winning run still crossed the plate.
Despite out-hitting Central Magnet seven to six, the Rebels couldn't pull out the win. Gavin McBee led the team with two hits.
Sam Vincent got things started in the first with an RBI double to put Franklin County on the board.
Central Magnet tied it up in the fourth thanks to a groundout from Long, another from Justin Morris, and a single by Brett Haney.
Gus Gardner got the start for Franklin County, going six and two-thirds innings. He allowed four hits and three runs (one earned), while striking out 13 and walking two. Collin Wind took the mound for Central Magnet, giving up six hits and three runs over five innings with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Braden Jackson, hitting in the nine-hole, drove in two runs and went 1-for-3 at the plate. The Rebels were solid defensively and didn’t commit a single error. Ayden Hodosi had 14 chances in the field, the most on the team.
Henry Long led Central Magnet with two RBIs, while Elijah Bonner and Mitchell Coons each picked up two hits. Central Magnet played clean defense as well, with no errors and 12 plays made by Haney. Rebels are back in action today (Wednesday) in the series finale between the two teams at 6 PM.
