Fire Takes Down Home in Estill Springs; Injuries Reported

Information from the Franklin County Sheriff's Department: On Friday at approximately 3:30 PM, a structure fire was reported on Oak Hill Drive in Estill Springs. Our office and Estill Springs Police Department responded to the residence. Members of the Estill Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Capitol Hill Volunteer Fire Department, and Decherd Fire Department also arrived at the scene.
While the house was engulfed in flames, Lt. Christian Steele and Fireman Richard Axt entered the residence. Lt. Steele and Fireman Axt located a trapped person in the residence. Fireman Taylor Herrera and Fireman Craig Martin entered the residence to assist in the extrication of the victim. The firemen inside the residence, with firemen and law enforcement on the outside of the residence, were able to use a ladder to extricate the unconscious victim through a window.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital. A juvenile was able to exit the residence before it became fully engulfed.
A firefighter was also injured when the floor of the structure collapsed. That firefighter was transported to Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems in Winchester.
Special recognition to Lt. Steele, Fireman Axt, Fireman Herrera, Fireman Martin, Patrolman Clint Grant, and Captain Seth Isbell for the bravery they displayed while rescuing the victim from the residence.
