On Saturday afternoon, Monteagle Fire & Rescue responded to a crash with injuries and a potential car fire on Interstate 24 eastbound, just past the second runaway truck ramp.

Upon arrival, emergency responders noticed a small fire in the engine compartment. This was extinguished.

Everyone was out of the vehicle upon arrival, but multiple people were transported to hospitals via ambulance.

Monteagle Fire & Rescue extends its gratitude to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, and Grundy EMS for their assistance.

This is also a good time for a reminder about the “Move Over Law.” When you see anyone on the side of the road, move over and leave the lane closest to the scene open. Not only is that the law, but it is critical to keeping first responders safe.

The flashing red and blue lights on the straightaway provided all vehicles with ample time to merge. However, dozens of vehicles were driving in the lane beside the crash where crews were working. Thankfully, this didn't cause any secondary issues.
