Confirmed Tornado in Franklin County Sunday Morning

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Al., an EF-1 tornado struck Franklin County early Sunday morning. The tornado began on the north side of Cowan, then went up the mountain near Templeton Library and turned southeast before lifting near the Marion County line. At its peak, the tornado reached wind speeds of 95mph. It touched down at 12:38 AM and lifted at 12:53 AM. The tornado was on the ground for 8.7 miles and was 350 yards wide. No significant damage has been reported.
