April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. The Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office at Arnold Air Force Base has several events planned to promote prevention and support for survivors.

One event is the “Virtual Teal Relay Ribbon Race,” where Arnold personnel are asked to walk or run 30 miles in 30 days, with a prize awarded to those who complete the challenge. Col. Grant Mizell signed a proclamation on March 28 recognizing April as SAAPM across the complex.

Every Tuesday in April is "Teal Tuesday," encouraging base personnel to wear teal to support survivors of sexual assault. The SAPR office will also place teal ribbons and painted rocks around the base, which team members can pick up and keep. These rocks will feature words of affirmation and encouragement to support mindfulness, relaxation, and grounding activities.
