ALFRED DANIEL PLATT, JR., age 75, of Estill Springs, Tennessee, a native of New York, departed this life suddenly on April 16, 2025, at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton Hospital. Mr. Platt was born in Elmira, New York to the late Alfred Daniel Platt, Sr., and Isabelle Wright Platt on January 11, 1950. Soon after graduation Mr. Platt was drafted by the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam war. After being honorably discharged, He was employed for approximately 30 years as a Maintenance Supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service where he retired for the first time. He was then employed for approximately 8 years with USAA in Tampa, Fla., as a Security Guard where he retired for the 2nd and final time. Mr. Platt was a member of the Vision Church in Decherd where he operated their sound system for their services. Mr. Platt enjoyed his retirement and his tools. He was a "people watcher" when he was around a crowd. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Platt is survived by his wife of 51 years, Erma Lee Stone Platt of Estill Springs. Children: Rebecca Forkel and husband, Ryan of Tullahoma, Tenn., Kristina Cutchens and husband, Christopher of Miami, Fla., Scott Platt and wife, Camille of Broomfield, Colo., Grandchildren: Kate, Allie, Lindsey, Kyndal and Jesse, 1 Great-grandchild, Everlee and one on the way. Sister, Lora Platt of Florida.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Pastor Ryan Forkel, officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 Noon until service time on Saturday.
Interment will follow services on Saturday at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Inc. in Tullahoma with Military Honors bestowed. Arrangements in the care of Grant Funeral Services.
